Rolfing is an alternative treatment originated in Germany through Ida Rolf, who was educated as an nurse. This therapy has been in use for more than 60 years and has been employed to treat various types of ailments, including anxiety and depression, stress, discomfort and fatigue. The person who developed the treatment was Ida Rolf’s great aunt Anna Lies Bergna. She also developed structural integration, which is a word that refers to the “arrangement of different parts” into functioning together. Jochen Rolf, Ida’s son developed this theory further.
Structural Integration is further refined in 1964 by Jochen Rolf. It was published into a publication titled Structural Integration – A Treatment to treat Stress Disorders. In 1964, the American Medical Association later recognized the therapy as legitimate and it was used interchangeably for massage. But, today, doctors prefer Rolfing as a term to describe the treatment while others prefer structural integration. Structural integration is typically described as the function of massage therapy in the treatment and management of muscular and skeletal issues. The therapy may also be described as type of massage.
Massage refers to movements that affect all musculoskeletal systems. This includes manipulating joints, muscles the ligaments, tendon, and various other tissues. The purpose of a massage is to bring back motion to the joint so it is free to move. It is a therapy that focuses on the application of precise and appropriate motions in order to satisfy the demands of each patient.
It’s also called total body massage, because it works on all body parts. It can be applied to any tendon, joint or ligament and can have an enormously beneficial impact on the function of it as well as its mental. Every session is different based on how severe the condition or injury is. An average treatment typically takes about ten sessions, however some patients might require lesser.
The Rolfing method is a type of structural integration. This method employs a patient-specific set of patterns of movement that have been programed into the therapist. Rolfing is a technique which allows the therapist to imitate the body’s movements using various areas. This allows the therapist to strengthen weaker areas. Every session lasts under ten minutes and up 20 sessions could be necessary for the treatment. Rolfing helps athletes recover from numerous injuries, including tendinitis strains, bursitis and tennis elbow. It is also believed to ease pain, stiffness and help improve flexibility. Additionally, it can increase blood flow, energy, and strength.
Another example of structural integration can be seen in supported tissue machines for example, those that support the Piriformis, Sacroiliac, Thighmaster Hamstring and Thigh Stretch, hip flexors and various other devices. These devices are created to help patients with long-term pain due to weak muscles and tendons. These machines provide vibration-based deep tissue massage as well as decompression. They’re not just used to relieve pain but also enhance the capability to perform daily activities like exercise or everyday activities. They can also help promote longevity stability in addition to a better sense of well-being.
Techniques used to improve the toughness and resilience of connective tissue in order to combat gravity is known as structural integration. This is why gravity could cause weakness across the body because of muscles being tight or weakened connective tissues. Though most people are only thinking of gravity after an injury, it is possible to weaken the body as a result of poor posture or aging. While these problems get more evident as we age however, they’re still very likely to be present at any time of life, including young people. An therapist who is certified in structural integration will identify weakness and help muscles strengthen and become balanced through the proper alignment.
If you’re experiencing constant pain, stiffness or other persistent conditions, it might be beneficial to investigate the possibility of an integration of the structural. Your therapist will be able to evaluate your situation and provide the best treatment strategy tailored to your specific needs. Find a professional online to assist you.
