1. Find out the development needs. Boil it into the very best three development needs, or in plain english, “what do you think you’re trying to find from a program?” Typical email address details are “learn how you can be strategic”, “leading change”, or some mixture of functional knowledge (finance, sales, and marketing). There can be is often a timeframe that’s better or worse than others (i.e., next 6 months, steer clear of the summer, etc…)
2. Search your favorite executive education providers.
3. If you notice one or two potential programs, locate a good fit. Go through the recommended participant level, participant mix, industry mix, and company participation.
4. Look into the instructors, read the bios. Review the everyday agenda, topics, and activities. Again, you are looking for an excellent fit to the participant and his/her development needs. Talk with the provider’s Exec Ed Director, or somebody who may help you find out about the programs.
Ask other’s whether they have experience with the program.
5. Talk with past participants if possible, or someone in charge of leadership/executive development development.
6. Geography can be an aspect. Hunting for a global experience? Than locate a good blend of global participants, or in addition to this, attend a plan away from U.S.
7. Amount of program: Programs range from 2-3 days to 6 weeks. I honestly have no idea how one meet the expense of to venture to a 6 week program these days, unless they are with a sabbatical or their company is just hoping to get reduce them for quite a while.
8. Look into the amenities’. Fine, I know, this is the chance to learn rather than a vacation, but first-rate food, accommodations, and surroundings each is part of the total experience. Also find out if the space and meals are within the program.
9. Factors that will not be part of a choice: alumni relationships, timing coinciding with the NCAA playoffs, and catchy program titles.
10. All things considered with this, narrow it into 2-3 program, after which select based on best fit, timing, and expenses.
